Installation at the Palau Macaya
Barcelona 2018
“Són les roses lliures
de la servitud;
són les roses franques,
no paguen tribut.”
J. MARAGALL, Les roses franques
The installation represents a large floating sphere made up of more than three hundred roses. An explosion of flowers that overcomes the force of gravity and floats freely lightly in the middle of the patio of the Palau Macaya.
It seeks to surprise the visitor with the three-dimensional arrangement of the roses and with the use of transparent threads as an invisible fastening method.
The sphere, with a diameter of almost 2 m, is right at the level of the visitors’ eyes. A rectangular stainless steel structure forms the base of the invisible tensioned threads where the roses are fixed. It is suspended in the air attached to the columns of the patio windows by four oblique cables.
